There is a 4-year grant on ticks and tick borne diseases at UAE University with a stipend for a PhD student who is going to be hired as a Research Assistant. Many students get waiver of tuition and with the stipend a student can cover his|her room and board. There is also a free health insurance for the student. Master's degree in Entomology is required.

This Research Assistant position has a posting number: 1887 and can be accessed in UAEU Jobs.

理事長的新年祝賀 & 蟲癭研討會資訊

Dear 會友：

新春愉快，狗年旺旺！

時間過得很快，第十九屆工作團隊也完成兩年任期的第一年任務。回顧這一年，學會除了例行工作與各項資訊服務，也積極整理會籍資料，同時重整名錄審查委員會，並邀請吳文哲教授擔任主任委員(召集人)，擬於我們此屆任期中達成重新修訂舊版昆蟲綱科以上中文學名對照表，以符合現代分類系統。而由前屆籌備到這屆四月於台北熱鬧展開的螢火蟲國際研討會頗獲好評，九月學會與台灣昆蟲與螨蜱資源調查聯誼會於南投和社合辦的會議深入就許多議題進行討論，十月的年會於科博館舉行更達近四百人參與歷史新高，此次年會有許多新的創舉，手冊以中英並陳方式、安排全英語發表場次、邀請多位國內外專家學者做大會演講、研討會與會後工作坊(於惠蓀)，也安排輕鬆活潑的食用蟲蟲與文化昆蟲的研討座談等。今年年會將在十月於成功大學生科系新館舉行，內容將更精彩，請大家繼續踴躍支持參與。此外，學會的期刊台灣昆蟲仍須大家踴躍投稿，請務必多加支持。

最後，學會與林試所及中研院合辦的第七屆國際癭學研討會將於3月3～8日在惠蓀林場舉行*，將有超過15個國家來自世界各大洲的專家參加這每四年一次的盛會，謹以會議海報代表卡片，祝福大家順心如意、健康快樂。

I am PI in the department of Entomology at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology in Jena, Germany.

How animals adapt to their environment is a fundamental question in Ecology. My primary interest lies in understanding the role of the digestive system in the adaptation of insects to their ecological niche.

李文蓉老師的紀念文集將在1月5日截止收件，由於須在追思會前完成編輯與印製，家屬提醒超過時間將無法納入追思文集，請大家把握機會。

由於1月13日追思會議程中排有十分鐘的“台灣昆蟲界對李文蓉老師的緬懷”，目前我們希望能收集到更多有關李老師的老照片，尤其是工作照片，可以更完整回顧老師在昆蟲界的活動與貢獻，還請協助提供照片。 請寄學會信箱 entomosoci@gmail.com 此外，若您想把握最後機會對李老師說一、兩句話，可以提供照片並附上想說的話，我們將盡量選輯到追思會的緬懷簡報中，煩請於1月10日前提供。
